The annual Gallery of Fluid Motion will be held during the APS DFD Meeting in Orlando, Florida.

We invite you to share videos and posters of your research in the Gallery of Fluid Motion (GFM), highlighting the captivating science and beauty of fluid motion. We encourage both computational and experimental entries.

The top-ranked video and poster entries will be designated as Milton Van Dyke or Gallery of Fluid Motion Winners and subsequently get an invitation to publish their work in the September 2027 issue of the Physical Review Fluids. All winners will receive a certificate from APS and an Album of Fluid Motion. In addition, Milton Van Dyke awardees are granted prizes at the DFD meeting as part of their recognition.

Submissions

The Gallery of Fluid Motion submission portal will open mid-June.

Please review the submission requirements, and for questions, please contact the APS virtual events team.

Previous years’ entries and winners can be viewed on the Gallery of Fluid Motion website.

Traveling Gallery of Fluid Motion Museum Exhibition: Where art meets science

The fourth Traveling Gallery of Fluid Motion museum exhibition will be presented at the Orlando Science Center from Saturday, Nov. 21, 2026, to Sunday, Apr. 18, 2027. Founded in 1955, Orlando Science Center is Central Florida’s award-winning, hands-on science museum, ranking as one of the most popular museum destinations in the region. Their exhibits and interactive programs bring science to life for over 660,000 annual visitors, including both residents of Central Florida and visitors from around the world.

Curated by Natalia Almonte and Nicole Economides of Paradoxluxe Collective and coordinated by Dr. Azar Panah, this exhibition is proudly supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the American Physical Society Division of Fluid Dynamics (DFD), and the George Washington University (GWU).

We hope you will join us for this extraordinary experience, and we look forward to seeing you in Orlando. Additional details about this year’s Traveling Gallery of Fluid Motion will be announced soon!
