Session presentations
Focus sessions and contributed papers are limited to 10 minutes, with two additional minutes for discussion. This is followed by one minute for the transition to the next paper and the introduction of the next speaker. During the talk, the monitor will indicate at eight minutes that the speaker has to finish in two minutes. At 10 minutes, it will indicate that the speaker’s presentation time is over. At 12 minutes, it will mean that transition to the next speaker must occur.
Minisymposium talks are 26 minutes long, including questions and transition. The talks will consist of 20-22 minutes for the presentation, with three to five minutes for discussion and one minute for transition. However, note that the time monitor in the room will keep the regular 13 minute schedule.
Invited lectures are 30 minutes long with an additional five minutes for discussion (total 35 minutes) except the following:
- The Otto Laporte and Stanley Corrsin Lectures are 40 minutes with five additional minutes for discussion (total of 45 minutes).
- The Andreas Acrivos Dissertation Award and François Frenkiel Award Talks are 17 minutes with an additional three minutes for discussion (totaling 20 minutes).

DFD-Interact Presenters
Interact presenters should read through all the detailed instructions below. You can also download a PowerPoint tutorial with voiceover that walks you through the steps.
Physical poster set-up
1) Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the session to set up your materials. The session Chair will direct you to your appropriate location when you arrive. You will give a one-minute flash talk, followed by a ninety-minute poster discussion and networking.
2) For the flash talk, prepare a PowerPoint or PDF file with a single slide and bring it to the session on a USB drive where it will be loaded onto the presentation laptop.
Note: You will be assigned a presentation number by the A/V staff, and flash talks will be delivered in order of presentation number.
3) You will also need to prepare a printed poster (maximum size 4 ft by 8 ft but smaller sizes are accepted), and set it up in the session room during the break immediately before the session. Materials to hang your poster (pins or adhesive) will be provided.
4) The following Interact sessions will have physical posters:
- C02. Interact: Machine Learning in Fluids
- C03. Interact: Non-Newtonian and Granular Flows
- C07. Interact: Multiphase Flows
- C08. Interact: Innovations in Flows in Porous Media
- C09. Interact: Swimming and Flying at Moderate and High Reynolds Numbers
- C10. Interact: Active Matter
- C13. Interact: Wind Energy: Wakes and Wake Interactions
- C15. Interact: Boundary Layers: from Laminar to Turbulent

ePoster set-up
1) Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the session to set up your materials. The session Chair will direct you to your appropriate location when you arrive. You will give a one-minute flash talk, followed by a 90-minute ePoster discussion and networking.
2) For the flash talk, prepare a PowerPoint or PDF file with a single slide and bring it to the session on a USB drive where it will be loaded onto the presentation laptop.
3) You will be given a large LCD monitor to which you can connect your computer. Although you could simply display on the monitor a digital version of a traditional printed poster, we encourage you to use the format creatively–for example, you could support your presentation with videos or animations, or have a few slides that allow you to present more details of your research when needed. With a monitor and your computer, you can mimic the back-and-forth you might have while discussing your research with a colleague in your office.
